SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Irish defense kept them in the game and sealed the victory at Duke, but now they face the undefeated Louisville Cardinals team.
Notre Dame is on a roll after a last-minute win against Duke.
This week the defense will face a familiar face in Louisville quarterback Jack Plummer, who's on his third team in three years and facing the Irish for a third straight year.
"The confidence for us is definitely high. We've been playing great football. When you think about it, as a defense, we definitely [...] got it. We got a swagger about us and energy. That's what allows us to keep going and keep us driven," defensive lineman Javonte Jean-Baptiste said.
Baptiste has been an essential addition to the d-line, as a transfer from Ohio State – and it’s helped his teammate Howard Cross III.
Cross has racked up 13 tackles, one sack, and two forced fumbles against Duke.
Now, he stands out with 35 total tackles this season, the most among all defensive lineman in the FBS.
"He's chasing the ball really well, he's playing tenacious. And you know, he's playing within the scheme. So great job by him on that particular play, awesome job for us recovering," defensive coordinator Al Golden added.
