NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Irish hockey fans braved the rough weather on Friday night, and for good reason.
Notre Dame hockey captured a piece of history, beating Ohio State 2-1 and clinching the regular season Big Ten championship.
“I think we just earned this throughout the year," said Irish captain Jake Evans. "We’ve all worked hard and we’ve battled. We’ve been a pretty consistent team. The guys are in this and we’re pretty happy, but obviously there’s still five games left in the regular season.”
Once those five games are finished, Notre Dame will have a bye in the Big Ten Tournament thanks to their newly-earned top seed. They will host at least a Big Ten semifinal game during the postseason in March.
