Notre Dame loses starting quarterback for the season

It may have been closer than the experts predicted, but Notre Dame got it done against the Virginia Cavaliers on the road. Unfortunately, they lost a star in the process.

Notre Dame pulled out the win 34-27 in a thriller over Virginia. But it came at a price.

Head Coach Brian Kelly says quarterback Malik Zaire is out for the season with a fractured ankle.

It happened in the third quarter.

Zaire was on the ground for a while after a hit. He wanted to try and get up himself, but couldn't.

He was helped off the field.

It’s only the second game but Coach Kelly says he is confident the team has enough depth to survive.

Now Notre Dame has a new quarterback behind center and he came through with the game winning touchdown.
