Notre Dame-Michigan series to be suspended after 2015

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- It is a storied rivalry that is going to take a break in 2015.

In order fulfill their agreement with the ACC, Notre Dame is going to suspend the Michigan series after the 2015.

This news comes right on the heels of Notre Dame's victory over Michigan on Saturday. Notre Dame has exercised its option to cancel the series after 2015 through 2017.

Notre Dame's athletic department released a statement about the suspending of the series.

"Our contract with Michigan has an automatic rollover provision, with a year being added each time a game is played. We needed to avoid the automatic addition of additional games until we get a better understanding of our available inventory in those years, an understanding that will develop as we implement our five game commitment to the Atlantic Coast Conference," Senior Associate Athletic Director John Heisler said.
