Saturday's game is the 20th time the Fighting Irish have gone up against the Tar Heels. The last time they played, in 2014, Notre Dame won 50-43.
Oddsmakers have Notre Dame winning by at least two touchdowns, so we asked the players what it will take to win.
This match-up seems to be more about Notre Dame doing what it's does best. So far the Irish rank 7th in the nation, averaging more than 300 rushing yards a game.
"I think as an offense, I think we know we can do more. I think we have guys that want to do more. We're never just satisfied with where we're at. We always want to do better. We always want to improve. I don't think we're even close to being at the level we know we can be at. This week we're preparing for UNC. We're working on our game plan and we're going to attack that," Josh Adams, Notre Dame running back, said.
The Irish defense has held opponents to 20 points or less in 5 games so far and it is being disruptive- 9 players have combined for 11 sacks and they have forced 11 turnovers this season.
Is that good enough for this Notre Dame defense?
"Never satisfied," linebacker Nyles Morgan said.
Morgan says their goal is to stop offenses from scoring.
