Notre Dame’s backfield balance: why Denbrock calls Love and Price yin and yang
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame is off to a 1–2 start and heading into a must-win matchup this weekend at Arkansas. The defense has given up 71 points in just two games, but on the other side of the ball, two running backs are keeping the Irish in the spotlight.
Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price have quickly become one of the most dynamic duos in college football. Offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock says the pair balance each other perfectly, calling them a “a really good yin and yang” producing big things for the offense.
The numbers back it up. Against Purdue, they combined for six touchdowns, helping land both on the Doak Walker Award watch list.
Love has been steady with 284 rushing yards, nearly 370 all-purpose yards, and four total touchdowns. Price has been explosive, averaging almost seven yards a carry with five rushing scores and a 100-yard kickoff return already to his name.
Love says it’s no surprise: he sees the work Price puts in every day and believes his backfield partner is “one of the best running backs in the country.”
Denbrock calls them the perfect example of team glory. And as Love puts it—“the only ones who can stop us, are ourselves.”
Notre Dame will look to prove it Saturday in Fayetteville.
