Notre Dame softball falls to Georgia Tech 8-1 in ACC tournament.

SOUTH BEND, Ind -- Notre Dame hosting the ACC tournament as the #7 seed but gets eliminated by #10 Georgia Tech in the opening round.

Irish started off shaky giving up two runs in the first inning and kept the trend going, allowing Georgia Tech to score at least one run in the first four innings.

Notre Dame would start the bottom of the first inning down 7-0, until third baseman Joley Mitchell rips a solo homerun to left-field, earning the only run for the Irish.

Defensively, Notre Dame made three errors, all coming from the infield.

Only five hits, thanks to Georgia Tech's pitcher Blake Neleman, who went all seven innings four strikeouts.

Neleman was lights out in the circle and backing her up was a stingy defense making plays across the diamond to potentially put an end to the season for Notre Dame.

Coming into the ACC tournament at 29-16-1, the Irish were considered to be on the bubble of earning a spot in regionals, beginning May 18th.

After failing to move past round one of the ACC tournament, the remainder of their season is to be determined, until selection Sunday on May 14th at 7 p.m.
