Notre Dame softball heading to NCAA Regional
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The 18th ranked Notre Dame softball team will be headed to NCAA Tournament on Friday.
The Fighting Irish will join the tournament as the two-seed in the Evanston Regional at Northwestern University following a 7-3 loss to Clemson in round one of the ACC tournament.
Game one of the double elimination four-team tournament will be against the McNeese State University Cowgirls of the Southland Conference at 2 p.m., Friday.
Notre Dame placed fourth in the ACC with a 16-5 finish in-conference, and an overall record of 39-10, their highest win-total since they racked up 43 victories in the 2015-2016 season.
The Cowgirls finished 38-19 overall and won the Southland Conference, going 15-3 against conference opponents.
Notre Dame is 15-4 at neutral sites, while McNeese is just 1-3.
