NOTRE DAME, Ind.-- It was a food eating contest with an ironic twist at Notre Dame on Thursday.
Students paid $10 each to compete in a chicken nugget eating contest with all of the proceeds going to diabetes research.
Each student had 90 seconds to eat as many nuggets as possible.
Just 12 nuggets alone have 390 calories and 18 grams of fat.
Chris Champlin, a student at Notre Dame said, "It's fun a lot of times you just give money but this one you get a chance to win , you can challenge your friends, you can brag bout it on campus."
Diabetes can be caused by obesity.
There were prizes given to the top man and woman in the contest.
