Notre Dame to play Wisconsin at Lambeau Field to kick off 2026 season

Notre Dame Football

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A game that was originally scheduled to be played in 2020 is now officially back on the schedule, Notre Dame announced on Wednesday.

The Fighting Irish will travel to the home of the NFL's Green Bay Packers to take on the Wisconsin Badgers on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026.

This is the make up of a 2020 game that was originally scheduled as the first in a two game Shamrock Series agreement that would see the teams go head to head at Lambeau and Soldier Field (home of the Chicago Bears) in 2020 and 2021.

The Green Bay game was postponed due to COVID, and the Irish defeated the Badgers, 41-13, in 2021 in Chicago.

The game will be the marquee football matchup of the day that Sunday as the NFL season does not start until the following week.

It will be the first college football game played at Lambeau Field since the Badgers defeated the LSU Tigers in 2016.
