Numbers down for South Bend Schools

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The numbers are in, and the news isn’t good for South Bend Schools.

ABC 57 told you last Friday that it was “count day” for Indiana schools; the day when student enrollment is calculated.

It turns out, South Bend Schools lost about 700 students this year.

School officials told us they expected a drop, just not this dramatic.

As for a cause, administrators think the new school voucher program and families moving out of South Bend are to blame.
