Officer responds to US Highway 6 two-vehicle crash

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A crash at the intersection of US Highway 6 and SR 13 left two vehicles damaged this Saturday at around 3:29 p.m., according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

A 40-year-old Claypool resident driving a 2015 Jeep Patriot was heading southbound when they approached the intersection.

A 2000 Volkswagen Jetta was heading westbound on Highway 6 when the Jeep Patriot began to turn left in front of their path.

The resulting collision heavily damaged the Jeep Patriot’s driver side and the Volkswagen Jetta’s front end.

The driver of the Jeep Patriot was cited for disregarding a stop sign, causing bodily injury, while the other was cited for driving with a suspended license.

Despite sustaining a minor leg laceration, the Claypool resident was deemed otherwise uninjured. Their passenger was transported to the hospital by ambulance after complaints of stomach pain.
