Officials for the City of Goshen celebrate opening of new bike trail

GOSHEN, Ind. – Residents and city officials in Goshen got together on Friday to celebrate the opening of the new 9th Street multi-use trail.

The project initially began in 2012 and is now officially open to the public.

The trail runs from College to Purl Street along 9th Street near the downtown area.

The project was funded via the federal government and the Goshen’s Redevelopment Commission.

A group bike ride took place to celebrate the opening.

Vince Turner, Vice President of the Goshen Redevelopment Commission, said that the new trail will benefit the entire community.

“We’ve maintained the mix use development. We’ve got small business and industry here,” Turner said. “We’ve taken care of the residents and been able to augment the neighborhood. We have a beautiful bike path that people are able to use. This is one of those wins that you really get an opportunity to celebrate.”

City officials also spoke about the quiet zone project that minimizes train horns at every intersection.

The City says that they want to hear from residents on what they want to see and not hear in their neighborhoods.
