SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend officials held a groundbreaking ceremony at Pulaski Park on Huron Street Wednesday afternoon.
The park will be getting upgrades including a paved parking lot, water splash pad for kids and irrigated natural grass soccer field. It will also get handicap accessible pathways and playground equipment.
Aaron Perri, the Executive Director of South Bend Venue Parks and Arts says the improvements have many benefits.
“You get increased property values, you get increased civic unity and the connected tissue that happens when we have shared public spaces that are highly active and programmed is almost infinite," Perri said.
Pulaski Park will be closed during most of the project, but is expected to reopen in November.
