Officials name suspect in homicide investigation for slain Mishawaka teen

SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- St. Joseph County Metro Homicide investigators confirmed the identity of their primary suspect in the slaying of a pregnant Mishawaka teen. The announcement was made during a press conference Sunday afternoon.

16-year-old Aaron Trejo was named as the primary suspect in the murder of 17-year-old Breana Rouhselang, whose body was found in a dumpster behind Pasquale Rulli’s on Division Street around 11 a.m.

Rouhselang, who was six months pregnant, had been reported missing by her parents the night before her body was discovered.

According to investigators, the two knew each other from Mishawaka High School and lived within seven blocks of one another.

Investigators could not comment on a potential murder weapon, but did confirm that Trejo would be facing a murder charge as an adult.

Prosecutors plan to file charges on December 10th.

Investigators do not believe the murder to be tied to the surrounding businesses or that there is any threat of danger to the public.

The Metro Homicide unit is still investigating the murder at this time.
