One dead in early morning crash on I-94

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – One person has died following a crash along I-94 Wednesday morning, Indiana State Police announced.

At 2:24 a.m., a state trooper was called to a single-vehicle crash in the eastbound lane of I-94 at the 44.9 mile marker.

The investigation showed that a red 2020 Freightliner tractor pulling one trailer had left the lane and hit the outside guardrail.

After hitting the guardrail, the vehicle drove off the shoulder and into a ditch on the right side of the road, where it came to a stop.

The driver, 59-year-old Daniel Ray Clark from Marshall, Michigan, was found unresponsive and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

This investigation is ongoing.

The right lane of the road was closed for an hour and a half for the investigation and cleanup.
