One dead in house fire in Berrien Township

The Berrien County Sheriff's Department and the Michigan State Police Fire Marshal responded to a fire at a house in the 7200 block of True Road in Berrien Township Tuesday morning just before 11 a.m.

The first responder on scene, a deputy, said the residence was fully engulfed when he arrived.

After the fire was extinguished, a body was found in the residence.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine cause of death and the identity of the victim.

The investigation into the person's cause of death and the origin of the fire is ongoing.
