One injured in I-65 Christmas Eve shooting

INDIANAPOLIS – Emergency crews were dispatched to an area of I-65 northbound near 21st Street for a possible shooting Christmas Eve.

Crews reported to an area of I-65 at approximately on Dec.24 at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Dispatch reported 911 callers said a male was on the side of the road with possible gunshot wounds.

Indiana Metropolitan Police Department officers and fire crews from Indianapolis Fire Department arrived first on scene.

A male victim was discovered with a chest wound caused by a gunfire. He was taken to Eszenazi Hospital in critical condition.

Three suspects were taken into custody by Indiana State Police.

ISP is interviewing these suspects and their alleged involvement in this crime.

ISP says the victim is now in stable condition and is expected to recover.

Detectives are processing evidence collected and are interviewing witnesses. The investigation is ongoing.

At this time, authorities believe the incident was the result of either a random criminal act or road rage.
