One person was killed and two others were shot outside the Orchards Mall early Sunday morning, according to Benton Charter Township Police.
Multiple police agencies responded to the mall just before 2 a.m. for reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they learned there were several shooting victims at Spectrum Lakeland Health.
When officers arrived at the hospital, they learned there were three victims.
An 18-year-old man, Tyreik Payton-Daniels, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
A 19-year-old sustained serious injuries and a 20-year-old victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Police learned there was a large gathering in the parking lot of the mall, but they do not know what led up to the shooting.
"There was a large gathering of vehicles at that location - the parking lot," said Chief Brian Smit of the Benton Township Police. "There were no businesses open at that time and we’re still unclear on what led to the shooting."
