One hospitalized following two-vehicle crash in Cass county
CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- Deputies responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash on Calvin Center Road at 12:09 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office.
Initial investigations showed that a 28-year-old woman from Elkhart was driving north on Calvin Center Road and lost control of her vehicle, striking an embankment.
As a result of the crash, her vehicle was inoperable in the roadway.
A second vehicle, driven by a 38-year-old Cassopolis resident was also traveling north on Calvin Center Road, and lost control of his vehicle while attempting to avoid the first traffic crash, according to deputies.
Officials say that the second vehicle then struck a 28-year-old man who was standing in the roadway near the first crash.
The man who was hit was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for his injuries.
Seatbelts were worn by all parties, and drugs or alcohol are not considered factors.
The crash remains under investigation.
