One pedestrian hit by vehicle in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – A woman was hit by a vehicle Friday morning as she stood on the shoulder of the road, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office reported.

At 8:13 a.m., emergency personnel were called to the scene of a car vs. pedestrian crash on Dixon Street in Silver Creek Township.

A vehicle, driven by a Dowagiac man, allegedly struck a Dowagiac woman while she was standing on the side of the road.

An initial investigation into the crash revealed that the driver of the vehicle went slowly past a stopped vehicle, with whom the woman was talking to.

When the driver began to pass, he did not see the woman and struck her with the mirror/driver’s side of the vehicle.

The woman was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene of the crash.

This crash remains under investigation. Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the incident, police said.
