One person airlifted after accident in Elkhart County

 The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department responded to an accident on US 20 at approximately 2:25 p.m. Tuesday.

All traffic was stopped between Middlebury and the East County Line for several hours while police worked to investigate and clean up the accident site.

Police say two semi trucks and one vehicle were involved in this accident.

According to police, the driver of the vehicle was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for serious injuries.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
