Osceola town council president Debbie Davis resigns

OSCEOLA, Ind. -

ABC 57 has learned that Osceola town council president Debbie Davis has resigned.

Davis posted her resignation to Facebook after last week's contentious town hall meeting over emergency services.

Since January 1st, the Osceola volunteer fire department has not been answering any calls from St. Joseph County dispatch.

The Penn Township fire department is instead coming to the aid of thousands of people who live outside of the towns that pay taxes for their services.

In her statement, Davis says, "I have resigned as council president as of tonight. I don't need this stress and the damage to my property that is happening. I don't need it. If people only knew the truth about the staff we had on the department they might understand."
