Over 120 lbs. of marijuana seized during traffic stop on toll road
PORTER COUNTY, Ind. -- Indiana State Police troopers say they discovered 121 pounds of marijuana in a vehicle following a traffic stop on the Indiana Toll Road on Thursday.
Troopers say a Dodge Avenger committed several traffic violations in the eastbound lanes of the toll road near the 22 mile marker around 12:30 p.m.
While speaking with the driver, troopers became suspicious and K-9 Axel conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle and Axel gave a positive indication, reports said.
Troopers searched the vehicle and found approximately 121 pounds of marijuana in the trunk.
The driver, 46-year-old Howard Montgomery of Rochester, New York, was arrested on a preliminary charge of dealing marijuana.
His passenger, 32-year-old Danielle Ruise of Rochester, New York, was arrested on a preliminary charge of dealing marijuana.
