Overnight: Boat and house fire in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- It was a busy night for the South Bend Fire Department. Firefighters responded to two different fire calls within an hour of each other.

The first fire was in an alley on the 1000 block of 25th Street around 2:45 a.m. Firefighters found a boat on fire. The flames were starting to melt a nearby garage.

Firefighters were able to put out the boat fire before the garage caught fire. That fire is currently under investigation.

An hour later, firefighters responded to Kenwood Drive on the city's North West Side. They found a house on fire.

Eight people were able to get out of the burning home.

Firefighters told ABC57's Overnight Reporter Mike Pache that two people had to be treated for minor injuries.

No word yet on the cause of that fire.
