Ozzie Smith keynotes Benton Harbor youth event

Baseball Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith was in Michigan Wednesday morning, speaking to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Benton Harbor at the second annual Passport to Manhood Breakfast.

Smith delivered a keynote address at the event, which celebrated Benton Harbor’s youth.

Over 300 people attended the event, which celebrated Benton Harbor’s Young Man of the Year.

Over the course of 14 sessions, 50 young men, ages 9 to 18, learned several important life skills including how to become responsible and courageous in today’s society.

The event was sold out and 16-year-old Antonio Varnado was honored as this year’s Young Man of the Year.
