P-H-M approves new teacher contract and increases substitute pay

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – The Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation has approved the teachers’ contract and increase in substitute pay.

Under this new agreement, the new salary range from P-H-M teachers will range from $41,000 to $71,048.

This agreement covers a one-year period from July 1, 2020 until June 30, 2021.

The goal for the new contract and pay increase is to support the school corporation’s talent acquisition and retention needs.

There will be a 3 percent increase in stipend amounts paid to all teachers who also hold extracurricular and co-curricular coaching/sponsorship responsibilities.

Changes have also been made to the corporation’s health insurance plan. Employee contributions will increase by 3 percent beginning January 2021.

The Board of School Trustees approved an increase in the hourly rate paid to substitute teachers by $20 a day in order to retain and attract more substitutes.
