Palisades Nuclear Plant holds conference ahead of shut down

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. -- The Palisades Community Advisory Panel (PCAP) is presenting a timeline for their upcoming decommissioning.

The decommission is set to commence in May as part of a sale to Holtec International. It is estimated to be completed in 19 years and cost around $644 million.

“This meeting will provide community members an opportunity to learn more about the proposed decommissioning timeline and key steps in the decommissioning process,” said Joe Delmar, Senior Director of Government Affairs and Communications at Holtec.

This overview will be held at the South Haven campus of Lake Michigan College (125 Veterans Blvd.) from 6 to 8 p.m.

Community members are encouraged to attend and provide input or ask questions.

Attendees can also join via Zoom with the link available on the Van Buren County website.
