Parents charged to bus children to school

Planning for the first day of school can be a headache.   But for some parents, it has turned into a nightmare!

Schools in Franklin Township, just outside Indianapolis, started classes this week.

It's also the first week of a new district program.  They are charging students to ride the school bus!  The fee?  $475!

Parents, who chose to drive their kids themselves, faced huge traffic jams Wednesday!

"What would you compare this to?  I don't know.  Trying to get out of a concert somewhere?  That's what I’d say, because that's pretty much what it is it is -- tail to tail traffic," said one parent, Angela Douglas.

Parents who don't want to pay the fee should not expect things to get better anytime soon.

But, the district says it is not too late for parents to sign up for the bus service.
