Parents charged with neglect of a dependent in drowning death of 3-year-old

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. - The parents of a three-year-old who was found dead along Lake Clare in May of 2022 have been charged in connection with her death, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Breanne Smith, 33, and 35-year-old Andrew Allen have both been charged with one count of neglect of a dependent resulting in death, a level one felony.

According to case documents, the two knowingly placed the child, identified in documents as Ivy Breeze Allen, in a situation that endangered her life.

On May 12, 2022, three-year-old Ivy Allen (previously identified as Amy Ivey), was reported missing from the 400 block of Long Beach Lane.

Later that day, she was found along the north shoreline of Clare Lake.
