LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- An Indiana Department of Transportation contractor is set to close US 35 between La Porte and Michigan City for about a month, starting around Monday, July 6.

US 35 is expected to be closed between C.R. 400 W and Schultz Road from Monday, July 6 for a small structure replacement through the first week of August.

The official detour during the closure follows S.R. 39 and US 20.

After this small structure replacement, INDOT is planning a resurfacing project for US 35 between S.R. 39 and US 20, wherein the roadway will be reduced to one lane of travel during work. Paving and other construction is then planned to continue through the end of October.
