Pedestrian killed after walking into path of train while listening to music
MARCELLUS, Mich. -- A 27-year-old man was killed Thursday morning when he walked into the path of a train in Marcellus, Michigan, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Department.
When deputies arrived to the scene, they located Logan Glenn Lamons, of Marcellus, deceased.
Witnesses told deputies Lamons was walking southbound on the sidewalk on Burney Street, looking down at something.
Witnesses said the signals at the crossing were activated, the gates were down, the bell was ringing, the red lights were flashing and the train was blowing its horn.
Deputies said it appears Lamons was listening to music using earbuds when he stepped into the path of the train.
The train activated its emergency brake and came to a stop 1.25 miles from the crossing.
The incident is under investigation.
