Pedestrian killed in accident in Hudson Lake

The La Porte County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accident involving a vehicle and pedestrian in Hudson Lake.

The accident happened just after 6 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15 at a home on Meadow Lane.

Deputies say 59-year-old Tim Sinka was backing out of his driveway in his 2005 GMC truck when he felt a thud.

Sinka got out of his vehicle and found 44-year-old Willard Ashley lying in the street behind his truck, he told deputies.

Ashley was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. He died Wednesday morning.

The sheriff's office says Ashley, who also resided on Meadow Lane, had a BAC of .41%.

The sheriff's office is still investigating the accident but says it appears this was just a tragic accident.
