Pedestrian killed on Red Bud Trail, driver arrested

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- A woman was killed by a vehicle while she was attempting to cross Red Bud Trail Wednesday evening. The driver is facing charges for the crash.

Police said a farm truck was traveling northbound on Red Bud Trail when it struck the 36-year-old female pedestrian around 9 p.m. near Howe Lane.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

The driver of the truck, a 65-year-old man from Buchanan, was taken to the Berrien County Jail on preliminary charges of OWI causing death.
