Pedestrian walking hit and killed by a train

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind -- The death of a pedestrian who was struck by a train is under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.

The Sheriff's Department deputies and emergency responders were called to the area of County Road 1250 North and the Bishop Road railroad crossing in Syracuse Sunday at approximately 12:32 p.m. A CSX Railroad representative reported that a pedestrian had been struck by one of their freight trains.

The individual, whose name is currently being withheld by the County Coroner's Office, was walking on the south edge of the tracks prior to being struck.
