Penn baseball field to be named after six-time State Championship winning coach

Penn High School: Coach Greg Dikos

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Penn-Harris-Madison Schools announced a baseball field at the Jordan Automotive Baseball Stadium will be named after Penn High School Baseball Head Coach Greg Dikos at a ceremony Saturday at noon between baseball games.

School officials say the new naming of the field was made possible by a donation from PHM Superintendent Dr. Jerry Thacker and his wife, Donna.

During Dikos' time as head coach, Penn won six Baseball State Championships, including 1994, 1998, 2001, 2015, 2022, and 2023.

Dikos also led Penn to seven Semi-State Championships, 13 Regional Championships, 21 Sectional Championships and 22 Northern Indiana Conference Championships.

Dikos is a graduate of Swartz Creek High School in Michigan and Ball State University,

In 1979, Dikos was selected by the Atlanta Braves as a third baseman in the Major League Baseball Draft in the 31st round.

PHM officials say Dikos will remain Penn’s Baseball coach but will retire as a teacher after the current school year. He's been in education for 45 years.

Dikos was also inducted into the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame in 2011.

Saturday's double-header is between the No. 1-ranked Kingsmen and No. 2-ranked Lake Central on Saturday.

The first game is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
