Penn football to host community tailgate prior to season-opener on Friday

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Penn Kingsmen football is set to host a community tailgate on Friday at 5:30 p.m. prior to their regular-season-opener against the Valparaiso Vikings.

The tailgate will include $5 food tickets available for purchase at the event for a bratwurst, hot dog or cheeseburger with potato chips, cookie and a drink.

Former Penn football alum who have pre-registered will be recognized before the game at 7 p.m. on the field track.

General admission tickets for the game cost $6 per person and is set to start at 7:30 p.m.

In the 2021-2022 season, the Kingsmen finished with an overall record of 6-6 and a 4-1 record within the Northern Indiana Conference.

At halftime, there will be the dedication of the Chris Geesman Kingsmen Athletic Center, named after the former Penn football coach, who led the Kingsmen to five state championship wins between 1973 and 2002.
