City approves road closures for Pete for America announcement

UPDATE: All road closures have been canceled. The event has been moved indoors - to Studebaker Building 84

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Pete Buttigieg's campaign's request for several road closures in downtown South Bend for his announcement on Sunday, April 14 have been approved.

Pete for America requested road closures beginning Friday. Those closures will expand Saturday and Sunday.

On April 12, they are requesting to close Jefferson Boulevard from Michigan Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard from 1 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday. (black line in map above)

The closure will expand to the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Michigan Street on Saturday morning at 6 a.m.

At 6 a.m. Sunday morning, the campaign wants to close Michigan Street from Washington to Wayne streets and Jefferson Boulevard from Main Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. (red lines in map above)

The request was approved by the South Bend Board of Public Works on Tuesday.
