Phase two of S.R. 23 bridge work begins May 31

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – Crews will begin work on a section of S.R. 23 over Mishawaka Avenue and S.R. 933 beginning on or after May 31, the Indiana Department of Transportation announced.

During phase two of construction, the northbound lanes of S.R. 23 will be closed. The southbound lanes will be converted to two-way traffic.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

The ramps from eastbound and westbound S.R. 933/Lincolnway to northbound S.R. 23 will be closed.

Drivers can use Sample Street/Beyer Avenue and Mishawaka Avenue as a detour.

The right lane and shoulder of S.R. 933/Lincolnway will also be closed at the S.R. 23 bridge for pier repairs.

Phase two work will continue through mid-July before work switches to the southbound lanes.

Construction for the whole project will continue through early September.
