Pickup truck struck by train in Chikaming Township

CHIKAMING TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A pickup truck was destroyed when it was hit by a train on Lakeside Road near Red Arrow Highway Monday afternoon, according to the Chikaming Township Police Department.
The crash happened just after 1 p.m.
Police said the driver failed to stop at the tracks and his vehicle was struck by the train.
The driver was not injured and was released from the scene.
The Chikaming Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
Police ask drivers to stop at railroad crossings when the signals are on.
