Pokagon Band adds 32 complexes

DOWAGIAC, Mich. -- The tribal village for the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians in Dowagiac is growing.

Wednesday ABC57 got a glimpse of the new complexes, bringing the total number of homes in the community to more than 5 dozen.

Tribal leaders say the new homes are a great example of affordable housing and economic development that bring members of their community together.

"These new complexes and home structures mean new growth for our people but specifically it means a place for them to come back to our homelands to where we once resided a very long time ago as a community," said Robert Moody Jr, Vice Chairman Pokagon Band.

It is possible that the tribe could bring a similar development to South Bend in the near future.
