Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians warn of new scam
DOWAGIAC, Mich. – Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians on Monday warned of a new scam involving fraudulent vendor checks.
The checks appear to be issued by the Pokagon Band government and are in response to an online personal assistant job. According to the Pokagon Band’s website, the check is fake and appears to be linked to online internet scams.
The Pokagon Band advises that recipients of the check do not cash it and to check with your bank before cashing any check you are unsure about.
The Pokagon Band also stated that anyone receiving emails or text messages from persons claiming to be associated with the job posting should not respond. They also suggest blocking the sender if possible.
