Police arrest suspect in multiple home invasions
ST. JOSEPH TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A suspect in an attempted home invasion and two home invasions Wednesday morning was taken into custody after a search involving multiple agencies, according to St. Joseph Township Police.
Police were called to a home in the 200 block of Hoover for an attempted home invasion around 2:12 a.m.
At 2:50 a.m., police were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of W. Delaware after a subject entered the home, but fled after being confronted by the homeowner.
A perimeter was set up and Michigan State Police Trooper Joel Service and his K-9 partner Patch began tracking the suspect.
Just before 5 a.m., police received a call about a home invasion in the 500 block of S. Ottawa.
At 5:59 a.m., Trooper Service and K9 Patch located the suspect in a garage in the 500 block of Montezuma.
The suspect, a 33-year-old African American male, was taken into custody.
Police said they believe the suspect is the same person involved in recent home invasions reported in the Lincoln Avenue and Maiden Lane areas of the township.
The suspect's name is being held pending arraignment.
