Police arrest suspect in Sunday night shooting; Victim still in hospital

Elkhart police announced Monday night that they made an arrest connected to a shooting that happened at the Washington Gardens apartment complex on Sunday.

Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Chapman Avenue in Elkhart around 8:18 p.m. regarding a shooting with injuries.

Police say 30-year-old Lavell Evans was found shot and he was immediately transported to Elkhart General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, police identified a person of interest and continued their investigation.

On Monday, April 18th, detectives arrested 26-year-old Marcus Gary for attempted murder. He is being held without bond at the Elkhart County Correctional Facility.
