Police calling Indy home explosion homicide investigation

INDIANAPOLIS – An investigation into the deadly house explosion has taken a new turn.

Police now believe the blast was not an accident.

“We are here to inform you that we are turning this into a criminal homicide investigation,” said Chief Gary Coons of the Indianapolis Div. of Homeland Security. “There is a search for truth and there is a search for justice.”

The natural gas explosion killed two people, injured seven others and forced hundreds from their homes. Neighborhood damages are listed at more than $4 million.

Police are now looking for a white van seen in the neighborhood before the blast.
