Police chase two fleeing suspects, one person taken into custody
ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart Police arrested one fleeing suspect, but are still searching for another suspect following a pursuit that covered 2-3 miles Thursday afternoon.
Around 12:30 p.m., an officer attempted to make a traffic stop at Indiana Avenue and Nappanee Street in Elkhart.
The vehicle stopped, but then drove north on Nappanee.
The driver stopped again at Mishawaka Avenue and ran from the stopped vehicle, police said.
The passenger, later identified as Joshua Snyder, got into the driver's seat and drove away from the scene.
Police said the pursuit ended when the vehicle stopped on Oakland Street and Snyder ran from the vehicle. He was quickly taken into custody.
The pursuit lasted 11 minutes and covered approximately 2-3 miles, police said.
Police said the original driver has not been located.
