Police investigating attempted armed robbery in Berrien Springs

An attempted robbery was reported at the Village Inn Motel in Oronoko Township just after 8 p.m. Monday night. It is being investigated as possibly linked to other armed robberies in the area, according to the Berrien Springs/Oronoko Township Police Department.

Just after 8 p.m. Monday night, a person rang the service bell at the Village Inn Motel on US31.

When the clerk opened the window, the suspect showed a knife.

The clerk called 911 and the suspect ran, according to Berrien Springs/Oronoko Township Police.

The suspect was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and ski mask.

There were no injuries.

Berrien Springs/Oronoko Township Police, the Berrien County Sheriff's Office and Michigan State Police are all investigating.

Police are working to determine if this incident is related to two previous robberies in the area.
