SJCPD exhumes body of 40-year-old cold case victim
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – The Saint Joseph County Police Department responded to a crash that killed one person Friday evening.
Police were dispatched to the scene at Crumstown Highway and Wilson Manor at 7:48 p.m. Friday night.
St. Joseph County FACT was called to the scene to investigate.
At 7:48 p.m., a Buick Century traveling eastbound on Grant Road crossed the center line and into the path of a Chevy Traverse traveling westbound on Grant, reports said.
The driver of the Buick, 32-year-old Stephen Stopcyznski, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chevy, and four of her children, suffered minor injuries. A fifth child, a 13-year-old, suffered a spinal injury and was transported to Riley Hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
