Police looking for two suspects after five crimes, in three hours

EDWARDSBURG, Mich. – Edwardsburg Police said on Wednesday that they believed two suspects are responsible for an early morning fire and four other crimes overnight in the area.

Police said that five crimes started around 11 p.m., and they believe the spree ended with the start of the fire at a storage building near the intersection of Section and Max Streets.
The other crimes included some business break-ins and a number of wooden pallets found soaked in diesel fuel. Some people near the scene told ABC 57 they would assume the suspects were also planning to light those on fire as well.
Fire Crews responded around 2 a.m. to the large fire on Max Street, and said it took about an hour to get control of.
“Upon arrival we found the building fifty percent engulfed in flames and we called in the mutual aid from Clay, Cleveland, and Cassopolis,” said Edwardsburg Fire Chief Bruce Stack.
Stack said the fire was put out about three and half hours after it began.
Police said they have a witness that said she saw two people walking near the fire location.
Police are investigating leads as of Wednesday night, and are also working with the prosecutor’s office to arrest the suspects.
