Police make $200,000 marijuana, psychedelic drug bust in La Porte County

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – A multi-state agency investigation led the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Division along with other police agencies to a home in Michiana Shores were marijuana and psychedelic drugs were located.

The investigation led officers to 219 Chickadee Trail around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday where 33-year-old Benjamin Strupek resided.  

During the search police uncovered 40 pounds of high-grade marijuana, one pound of psychedelic mushrooms, a quarter pound of hash and $8,694. 

The approximate street value of the marijuana is $200,000.

Strupek was arrested and booked into the La Porte County Jail. He is being charged with dealing marijuana over 10 pounds, a Class C felony. Additional charges may be pending.

Indiana State Police Lowell troopers, the Michigan City Police Department and Drug Enforcement Agency all assisted in the arrest
